About

If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.  – Bruce Lee

Welcome!

I am keeping my identity private as I embark on this financial independence (FI) journey, but this page will provide brief information about me.

I relocated with family from India to US in 2017. I have been reading various blogs about FIRE movement for past 3 years and am convinced that it is a worthwhile goal to pursue. I devoured a lot of information from various sources, but did not invest a single dollar (outside of company sponsored 401K) until few weeks back. I did not even take advantage for full match until 1 year in the states. The biggest roadblock was paralysis by analysis and I really needed to break out of that. One of the best ways to take action is to hold yourself publicly accountable and that gives the birth to this blog. Believe me….just merely an idea of writing on a particular topic is putting me out of comfort zone. It has certainly made me sit and plan things objectively. I would say that I made progress in 2 months than 3 years that I have been reading about it.

Writing gives me joy and I am combining that with building wealth. Here is four line poem (quatrain) that I wrote about FI journey.

I am not a hero, I am no Saint

FI is a journey, an exciting quest

Save a lot, and make sure to invest

Be patient for the wealth; it can create

I am a married male into late 30s working in a software profession and I have one son who is in elementary school. Debt free with six figure household income – spouse is a homemaker as of now, but plans to work and earn money in the future. I stay in a rented apartment with one leased car (I know it is in my to do list to buy used car) and I walk to my office every day, be it rain or snow.

The objective is to generate “enough” in next 10 years through investments and side hustles – this blog being one of them. Not only I plan to write about money, which is crunching numbers, but also about non-mathematical aspects of financial independence journey.

I am learning every day and evolving and hence what I understand now could be completely different few years down the line. My focus will be on writing what I am doing or have done most of the time, but some of the posts will be about different questions that pop up in my mind and a particular post is an attempt to seek answer(s).

I am deeply grateful to FI wizards who shared their knowledge and helping countless people like me realize FI dream. Here are a few who helped simplify a lot of aspects about FI.
